Letter From the Dean
Dear Friends,
I am grateful to be able to contribute to the work of the College of Fine Arts and Communications. As a faculty member in the college for 18 years, and most recently as director of the School of Music, I have seen firsthand the amazing work of our students and faculty. The college has been part of BYU for 100 years. It is built on the shoulders of outstanding people, and I am honored to serve as dean of this creative and multifaceted college at this time.
I have great admiration for the students, faculty, and staff who learn, hone, and teach their crafts, and I look forward to learning more about our various programs and our people who seek for excellence in their disciplines and work to strengthen this extraordinary faith-filled community.
To the many alumni and friends who provide philanthropic support that enhances the student experience, I express my sincere gratitude. I invite you to donate to the college again this year. Your support has a great influence on our remarkable students, providing opportunities that are life changing.
Many wonderful things are happening in the college. Just two of the thousands of inspiring stories are highlighted on the back of this letter. You can read about design students creating health-promoting products for women in India and ballet students learning and performing iconic choreography under the tutelage of a renowned repetiteur.
Our students and alumni are fulfilling their dreams while exemplifying BYU’s tradition of learning and service throughout the world. They lift, inspire, teach, and entertain—spreading light along the way.
Thank you for your consideration,
Diane Thueson Reich
